Your beliefs do not have to stay outside the room
John is Christian. When faith matters to a couple, he can integrate it into conversations about the relationship in a way that supports the couple's own values and goals. That may mean making space for how belief shapes your understanding of marriage, repair, or the commitments you want to live by.
There are no required scripture blocks, religious tests, or assumptions that both partners relate to faith in the same way. John will not use faith to pressure a partner, avoid accountability, or offer simplistic answers to complex relationship pain.
Counseling remains relational and practical
Faith integration does not replace careful couples work. John's approach is attachment-based and informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy, with narrative therapy and practical tools couples can use outside the room. Sessions focus on the cycle between partners and the emotional needs underneath it.
You can expect genuine conversation, active guidance, and respect for both people. The goal is not to tell you what a good Christian couple should look like. It is to help you understand what keeps happening between you and work toward responding with greater clarity and connection.
When partners believe differently
Couples do not always share the same beliefs, level of certainty, or relationship with a faith community. Those differences can be approached with curiosity rather than treated as a problem to solve. John does not require either partner to adopt the other's beliefs.
If one partner wants faith included and the other does not, that is an important conversation to have during the consultation. The counseling space should feel respectful to both people, not like a place where one partner has the moral advantage.
See whether the fit feels right
A free 30-minute consultation gives both partners room to ask exactly how faith would—or would not—be included. You can decide together whether John's style feels aligned with your relationship.
Sessions are 50 minutes and $175, by telehealth when both partners are in Texas.
What a session actually looks like
Sessions are 50 minutes with both partners. The structure is the same couples work John does with everyone: understanding the cycle between you, slowing down hard moments, and practicing different responses. Faith enters only where you want it to.
In practice, that might mean naming the commitments you both understand through your faith, or talking about forgiveness in terms that match your beliefs rather than a generic framework. It might also mean setting faith aside for a session because the work in front of you is about how a Tuesday-night conversation went.
You will leave with the same kind of practical focus as any other couple here: something specific to notice or try during the week. John will check in periodically about whether the balance feels right to both of you, rather than assuming the arrangement you described at the start still fits.
What this page is not
This is not a separate, more religious program, and it is not a signal that other couples are less welcome. John works with couples of any belief or none, and no one is asked about faith as a condition of being here.
There are no scripture blocks in session by default, no assumption about your church involvement, and no moral instruction about what your marriage should look like. Faith is treated as part of how some couples understand their lives, not as a tool for deciding who is right.
If one of you wants faith included and the other does not, say so during the consultation. That conversation is easier before the work starts than after.
Common Questions
Do we have to be Christian to work with John?
No. Couples of any belief or none are welcome and treated with respect. Faith is included only when both partners want it.
Will sessions include prayer or scripture?
Not by default. If faith integration is something you both want, you can talk with John about what that would look like for your relationship.
What if we believe differently from each other?
That difference can be approached with curiosity rather than treated as a problem to solve. Neither partner is asked to adopt the other's beliefs.
Take the Next Step
