Optional faith integration before marriage

Christian Premarital Counseling

For couples whose faith shapes how they understand marriage, premarital counseling can make room for those values alongside practical conversations about daily life. Faith integration is always optional, and both partners decide together whether it belongs in the work.

Talking about the marriage, not only the wedding

Wedding planning can take over the months before marriage. Premarital counseling turns attention toward the shared life that follows: expectations, conflict, money, family, roles, closeness, and the commitments each of you believes you are making.

John helps you speak assumptions out loud before they become recurring misunderstandings. The goal is understanding, not passing a test.

How faith may be included

When both partners want it, faith can be part of conversations about commitment, forgiveness, community, and the kind of marriage you hope to build. John is Christian and follows the couple's own values and language.

There are no required scripture blocks, prayer, or religious exercises by default. Faith supports the relationship work rather than replacing it.

When partners believe differently

Engaged partners may differ in belief, church involvement, or how they imagine faith showing up at home. Those differences deserve curiosity rather than pressure to agree quickly.

John does not give one partner a moral advantage or ask either person to adopt the other's beliefs. Couples of any belief or none are welcome.

Accountability still matters

Faith is never used to silence concern, rush forgiveness, or pressure someone toward marriage. A commitment deserves honesty about doubts, expectations, and patterns that already cause pain.

Premarital counseling cannot guarantee a successful marriage. It can help you understand each other more clearly and decide how you want to handle difficult conversations together.

What a session actually looks like

Sessions are 50 minutes by telehealth while both partners are physically in Texas. John usually focuses on one area at a time, such as money, family boundaries, conflict style, or what commitment means to each of you.

He notices where the conversation tightens and helps you slow down there. You may leave with a question to continue at home or one practical way to handle the next disagreement differently.

Starting with a fit conversation

The free 30-minute consultation lets both partners ask how faith would or would not be included. It is also a chance to confirm that John's warm, active style feels right.

Ongoing sessions are $175 for 50 minutes, private pay. John works with couples only and does not provide certificates, assessments, or participation in a state premarital program.

Common Questions

Do we both have to be Christian?

No. Couples of any belief or none are welcome. Faith is included only when both partners want it and is never used to pressure either person.

Does this qualify for a marriage license discount?

No. John does not participate in a state premarital education program and does not provide a certificate. This is couples counseling focused on your relationship.

How long are sessions and what do they cost?

Sessions are 50 minutes and $175. The first 30-minute consultation is free. John works on a private-pay basis and does not bill insurance directly, though some couples have out-of-network benefits worth asking their plan about.
